Finn Wolfhard Teases More Connections for Richie Tozier in Future Derry Stories After Season 1 Finale Cameo
After Richie Tozier made a surprise appearance in the season 1 finale of It: Welcome to Derry, Finn Wolfhard hinted that this might not be the last we see of his character.
In the finale, Pennywise confronts Marge Truman, who is revealed to be the future Maggie Tozier. He ominously tells her that she will have a son named Richie, presumably after Rich Santos, who heroically saved Marge at The Black Spot. The sinister clown emphasizes this by showcasing a missing person poster of Richie, which first appeared in the original It film, featuring Wolfhard’s image.
In a recent interview, Wolfhard mentioned that he was aware of his cameo ahead of time and teased that more could be on the horizon. “I knew that years ago, actually. When they first started thinking about that show, it was probably 2021,” he shared. “Barbara and Andy Muschietti both told me, ‘You’re involved.’ Yeah, I’m connected. I think there’s something else that will come up eventually that I’m excited for people to see.”
While the specifics of what’s next for Richie Tozier remain unclear, with Pennywise now aware of the details surrounding his death, it wouldn’t be surprising if he seeks out more Trumans or Toziers in the upcoming seasons of It: Welcome to Derry. The show is planned for three seasons, although the latter two have yet to receive official confirmation. Whether this will include another appearance by Wolfhard is still uncertain.
Beyond It, Wolfhard has also recently completed filming for Stranger Things season 5, which concluded with an emotional finale.
As for Welcome to Derry season 2, it hasn’t been confirmed yet, but fans can stay updated on all upcoming Stephen King adaptations and fill their watchlists with the best shows available.
