Stardew Valley’s Switch 2 version faces a crafting glitch causing item loss, prompting a delay in its European release as a fix is on the way.

Stardew Valley’s version for the Nintendo Switch 2 unexpectedly dropped during the holiday season, and the game’s creator is advising players to steer clear of crafting specific recipes for the time being.

After announcing the Switch 2 edition in September and then going quiet, the game was released on Christmas Day, giving players a chance to enjoy enhanced graphics and impressive framerates. However, the port came with some hiccups, which Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone acknowledged during the holidays. These issues have also pushed back the European release until the necessary fixes are in place.

Barone shared on Twitter, “A patch to fix the crafting bug and improve mouse controls for the NS2 edition of Stardew Valley is coming soon. I’ll hold off on releasing the NS2 edition in the EU until this patch is ready, as the crafting bug can lead to item loss.”

If you’re currently playing the NS2 version, be cautious when crafting any of the recipes listed, as they may unexpectedly consume items from your inventory. If you must craft these, clear your inventory of everything except the required ingredients and avoid using the workbench. He also noted, “Apparently the problem exists in the NS1 version too,” and that will be addressed as well.

While Barone hasn’t provided a specific timeline for the fixes beyond “coming soon,” it’s uncertain how long EU players will have to wait to enjoy mouse controls, aside from those on PC. Hopefully, it won’t be too long.

The upcoming Stardew Valley 1.7 update could be as significant as the last, with ConcernedApe hinting that there’s “lots more” on the way.
