AGDQ 2026 to showcase Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 speedrun in 2 hours, but the highlight will be the 70-player Super Mario 64 relay.
It’s that time of year again when casual speedrun fans everywhere collectively exclaim, “Oh right, AGDQ is happening this weekend!” Awesome Games Done Quick has crept up on us once more, and the 2026 lineup features some incredible runs, including a wild Super Mario 64 relay and some of last year’s top Game of the Year contenders.
AGDQ 2026 kicks off at 8:30 AM PT / 11:30 AM ET / 4:30 PM on Sunday, January 4, starting with a 30-minute opening show. Following that, player inkstar will take on Super Mario Sunshine any% with an estimated completion time of 1 hour and 16 minutes. The event spans a full week, wrapping up on Saturday, January 10, when runner adef will tackle a Pokemon Emerald run dubbed “pick-my-main,” where he’ll be forced to use a Pokemon chosen by audience vote throughout the run.
While those are the standout runs that frame the event, there are plenty of other exciting reasons to tune in throughout the week. For instance, a roughly 2-hour any% glitchless race through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, our pick for the best game of 2025, is sure to pique your interest. Other notable titles from 2025 include an “all weapons” run of Hades 2, expected to take about 2 hours, and a 1-hour any% speedrun of Donkey Kong Bananza, contingent on meeting certain donation goals.
For me, the highlight of GDQ is always the quirky speedruns that emerge when the community comes together for some truly outrageous fun. Last year featured a Crazy Taxi speedrun with a live band performing the soundtrack. This year, we can look forward to a 70-star, 70-person relay in Super Mario 64, where a large group of runners will collaborate to finish the game in under an hour and 40 minutes. While similar runs have been seen at other events, this one promises the kind of delightful chaos that makes GDQ so special.
You can catch all the action live on Twitch, and each run will also be available on-demand on the GDQ YouTube channel. AGDQ continues its support for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, having raised over $2.5 million for the cause in each of the past three years.
In a remarkable feat, a Legend of Zelda speedrunner has completed every 3D Zelda game back-to-back in under 90 hours without sleep, spurred on by the release of Tears of the Kingdom since their last attempt.
