Twelve South’s Valet: A Stylish Solution for Organizing Your Gear

For years, Twelve South has been known for its innovative accessories designed to enhance your charging experience. Their latest creation, the Valet, is perhaps their simplest yet: a stylish tray meant for holding your keys, sunglasses, and other everyday items, while also providing a couple of charging options for your devices. Priced at $179.99, it will be available for shipping in the coming weeks.

The Valet primarily functions as a tray, featuring a soft leather surface available in various colors. You can also customize the outer metal frame to suit your style. On one side, there’s a raised square that serves as a wireless charging pad, capable of delivering up to 15 watts. Additionally, a USB port on the side allows you to plug in another device for charging, also at 15 watts. The Valet connects to power through a 36-watt supply and includes a 1.5-meter cable.

The charging capabilities clearly indicate the Valet’s intended use: it’s not designed to replace your laptop charger or serve as a comprehensive charging hub. Unlike Twelve South’s HiRise, which can charge three devices simultaneously, the Valet focuses on making the charging of your most essential devices—especially your phone—more convenient.

The dream of wireless charging is to simply place your device down and have it ready to go when you pick it up. While the charging pad isn’t exactly “anywhere,” I’ve found that using the Valet has significantly reduced my search for cables. Mine is currently on my desk, but many will likely find their place on nightstands or in entryways.

Twelve South is among many brands, including well-known names like Ikea, that are creating gadgets that blend seamlessly into home decor rather than standing out as high-tech devices. This year’s CES showcased numerous products aiming to disguise their technological nature, and while the Valet may not be the most groundbreaking example, it certainly proves to be a practical addition to any space.
