Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Sees Significant Increase in Player Count Following Fire and Ash Update
Over two years since its launch, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is experiencing a surge in player activity on Steam, largely thanks to a new DLC that connects with the latest film in the franchise. According to data from SteamDB, the open-world adventure reached a peak of 15,283 players this week, surpassing its previous high of 12,496 players last month, coinciding with the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19. The DLC, titled From the Ashes, launched on the same day as the movie and continues the story just weeks after the film’s events, creating a thematic link between the two. Priced at $25, the From the Ashes edition of the game, which includes the base game, is available for $40. It’s no surprise that the combination of new story content and the film’s box-office success—having recently crossed the $1 billion mark—has significantly boosted player interest and engagement in Frontiers of Pandora. Recent updates have also provided players with compelling reasons to dive back into the game, including the introduction of a third-person mode and New Game Plus support, which were added on December 5, just ahead of the DLC’s release. In From the Ashes, players take on the role of So’lek, a Na’vi character seeking vengeance against the RDA and the aggressive Ash clan featured in Fire and Ash. A hands-on preview noted that the expansion offers enough new content to refresh the overall experience.
