Player Cosplays as Pac-Man While Competing in AGDQ Livestream

Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ), the bi-annual charity livestream, kicked off this week with a vibrant mix of speedrunners tackling both classic and contemporary titles, from Jet Set Radio to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. The event, known for its quirky atmosphere, saw a surprise guest on January 5: Pac-Man, who made an appearance during a speedrun of Pac-Man World 2. Well, it wasn’t the real Pac-Man. The day began with speedruns of popular games like Final Fantasy X, Mega Man Battle Network, Nuclear Throne, and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. As the multi-hour stream progressed, the organizers introduced Pac-Man World 2 for Minecraft content creator DThaiPome to take on. If the event hit a fundraising goal of $10,000, DThaiPome, dressed in a blow-up Pac-Man costume, would speedrun his own game. That target was easily surpassed, and DThaiPome donned the Pac-Man outfit to dive into the gameplay. Playing a remastered version of the beloved 2002 platformer, he completed Pac-Man World 2 in about 30 minutes, utilizing various skips and tricks to reach the finish line as swiftly as possible. AGDQ began on Monday, January 4, and will continue until Sunday, January 11, featuring a packed schedule of speedruns, including titles like Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, Borderlands 2, Claire Obscur: Expedition 33, Mario Kart World, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Pokemon Legends: A-Z, Silent Hill f, Sonic Adventure, and many more. This week’s event supports The Prevent Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals to stay ahead of cancer through prevention and early detection.
