Hacker Takes Down White Supremacist Sites in Pink Power Ranger Costume

Not all heroes don capes; some don the iconic attire of Power Rangers. At a recent hacking conference, an anonymous hacker known as Martha Root showcased their skills by deleting white supremacist websites live on stage, all while dressed as the Pink Ranger.

The Chaos Communication Congress, hosted annually by the Chaos Computer Club in Hamburg, Germany, featured Root’s presentation alongside journalists Eva Hoffmann and Christian Fuchs. The climax of the event saw Root take down the servers of racist matchmaking sites WhiteDate, WhiteChild, and WhiteDeal in real-time.

These sites promote racist matchmaking, egg and sperm donations, and a labor marketplace exclusively for white individuals. The administrator of these platforms labeled the server deletions as an act of “cyberterrorism.”

In addition to the takedown, Root released personal data from these sites, including profile images, while withholding emails, passwords, and private conversations “for now.” The gender imbalance on these platforms was striking, with Root highlighting that 86 percent of users were men, leaving only 14 percent for women—a disparity that made them quip that it “makes the Smurfs village look like a feminist utopia.”

“Imagine calling yourselves the ‘master race’ but forgetting to secure your own website—maybe try mastering WordPress hosting before aiming for world domination,” Root remarked.
