The Unexpected Splinter Cell-Inspired Game from Last Year’s Xbox Showcase Could Be Facing Challenges

During last year’s Xbox Games Showcase, Korea-based developer EVR Studio unveiled Mudang: Two Hearts, a stealth action-adventure title reminiscent of the Splinter Cell series. However, recent reports suggest that the studio’s website is currently down, and there may have been layoffs in recent months.

According to reports, EVR has allegedly let go of several employees due to funding issues. A Korean tracking site indicates that the studio’s workforce has dwindled from over a hundred to just 22.

Sources have expressed concerns about the studio’s future, with one investor mentioning that Mudang is expected to launch by the end of March 2026, coinciding with the end of the current fiscal year. The investor noted that failure to meet this timeline could lead to significant dissatisfaction among backers.

Additionally, there has been a noticeable drop in the studio’s online activity. Accessing EVR’s official website results in an error message, and the latest archived version on The Wayback Machine dates back to October 23. The studio’s YouTube channel has not seen any updates since August 15, when the last developer diary was posted.

On LinkedIn, at least 34 individuals are listed under the EVR Studio profile, though many profiles are private. Public profiles, including those of key team members like CEO Yongki Yoon and co-founder Dong Joon Min, indicate they are still with the company.

EVR also maintains a Discord server with over 2,300 members, where discussions about the game’s status are ongoing, fueled by the recent reports. The last update shared in a behind-the-scenes channel was on August 29, when the team stated they were focused on validating the playable build for stability and conducting regression testing. They also mentioned that the next developer diary might be delayed due to these efforts, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a high-quality experience for players.

Mudang: Two Hearts is set to release in 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox consoles. As of July 25 of last year, the game had already garnered 100,000 wishlists.
