Red Dead Redemption 2 Fans Discover Possible GTA 6 Easter Egg
Seven years after its release, Red Dead Redemption 2’s vast open world continues to conceal mysteries, including a recently uncovered enigma involving a telegraph pole and a peculiar set of spider webs that only appear during specific times.
Players have been diving into this web of secrets over the past few weeks, and it seems the mystery might connect to the spider webs referenced by the coin-operated psychic Madam Nazar in Grand Theft Auto 5. This has led to speculation that Red Dead Redemption 2’s spider-themed Easter egg could hint at something related to Grand Theft Auto 6.
The intrigue began in late December when a Reddit user, /u/FL4VA-01, revealed a strange telegraph pole situated south of Cumberland Forest and north of Twin Stack Pass. This pole features an odd carving of a spider surrounded by what looks like feathers. Between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. in-game time, a spider web adorned with feathers spawns above the pole. YouTuber The Strange Man noted that marking the spider-shaped symbol on the in-game map reveals eight new web locations, each corresponding to the original spider’s legs. Each web appears during a different one-hour window between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., showcasing various styles—some with black feathers and others with red. The game treats these webs similarly to the shootable dreamcatchers found in the “The Wisdom of the Elders III” mission.
Around Christmas, another Redditor, /u/fthen2k02, discovered a new spider web positioned among the others. This web is only visible from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m., mirroring the spider webs in GTA 5. It’s significantly larger than the others and hangs from a tree rather than a telegraph pole. Observant players noted that from a certain angle, the large web seems to conceal the letter F, along with a symbol for a telegraph pole, directing players to yet another pole. However, this one requires players to shoot at the base instead of the web, revealing a secret carving of the letter W along with five additional telegraph poles beneath it. Moving five poles to the west and shooting that pole uncovers a carving with the letters “NW” and a small guitar symbol. The nearest guitar is located to the northwest, in Fort Wallace, where the trail goes cold.
The Strange Man has mapped out all the guitar locations in the game, two of which are in Fort Wallace. One points west, while the other directs upward toward the rooftops. Once on the roof, the YouTuber observed that Fort Wallace itself resembles a guitar, and following the neck of this instrument—a river—leads to Dodd’s Bluff, a small cabin containing two NPC corpses. Again, the trail goes cold here, but The Strange Man theorizes that the feathers on the spider webs (three red and five black) could reference Eagle Flies’ mission appearances. This Native American NPC appears in eight missions total. In five of these, he escapes unharmed, but in the final three, he is kidnapped, held captive, and ultimately killed—potentially what the trio of red feathers signifies.
As of now, this marks the end of the clue trail, but the detectives on /r/RedDeadMysteries are diligently working to uncover the truth behind this extensive Easter egg, which might offer players a glimpse of what to expect from Rockstar’s next title: the long-anticipated GTA 6.
Or perhaps that’s just wishful thinking…
