“Alienware Addresses Major Gaming Laptop Concerns at CES”

Alienware gaming laptops have long been recognized for their robust performance and solid build quality, but their displays have often held them back from being top contenders. While many brands embraced high-speed OLED technology in their gaming laptops last year, Dell’s offerings lagged behind. While a flashy screen isn’t a necessity for a good display, Alienware’s IPS panels struggled to compete.

However, Dell appears to have turned a corner, introducing an anti-glare OLED display in the Alienware 16 Area-51 and Alienware 16X Aurora for 2026. These premium machines previously felt a bit underwhelming with their IPS panels, but the new screens promise reduced glare and fewer fingerprints, indicating that Alienware has been hard at work behind the scenes.

The performance of these new displays remains to be seen, but it looks like the Area-51 and Aurora could soon be serious competitors in the gaming laptop arena.

The other notable upgrade is the introduction of Intel Core Ultra 200 series processors, available exclusively in the 16-inch and 18-inch Area-51 models for 2026. The Aurora will continue to feature the RTX 5060 / RTX 5070 configurations, with options for the Intel Core Ultra 5 235HX, Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX, and Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX.

These are the key updates to the lineup, but there are new models on the horizon.

Dell is expanding its reach in 2025 with two new models aimed at gamers beyond the hardcore crowd.

The Alienware Ultra-Slim is a 17mm thick laptop that emphasizes its hybrid design. While it may not be as sleek as the 2025 Razer Blade 14 (which measures 15.7mm), it represents a significant improvement over bulkier Alienware models, offering a larger 16-inch display. This machine is designed for everyday use, with enough power to handle lighter gaming sessions afterward.

While the full specifications are still under wraps, it’s expected to feature an RTX 5050 / RTX 5060 setup, with a potential premium RTX 5070 option.

Dell’s non-Alienware gaming laptops have traditionally catered well to the entry-level market with competitive pricing and solid components. However, popular models like the G16 have been noticeably absent from shelves over the past year. This brings us to the brand’s latest announcement.

The currently named Alienware Entry-Class gaming laptop (let’s hope that’s just a placeholder) aims to offer the brand’s “most accessible price point yet,” delivering Alienware’s engineering and design in a more budget-friendly package. This model is set to launch later this year, but details are still scarce ahead of CES.

If you can’t wait for the new models to arrive, keep in mind that the OLED-equipped Alienware 16X Aurora and Alienware 16 Area-51 gaming laptops will be available starting in Q1, along with the upgraded Alienware 18 Area-51.
