“Palworld Developers Respond to Critics, Celebrate Steam Best of 2025 Recognition and Community Support”

Despite its early access launch back in January 2024, Palworld continues to hold strong in the top 100 of four categories on Steam’s Best of 2025 lists. Steam has compiled these lists based on the best-selling and most-played games across seven different categories, and Palworld remains a notable contender nearly two years after its debut.

While Steam doesn’t disclose the exact rankings, Palworld has made it into the top 50 most played games on PC and on the Steam Deck in 2025. It also features in the top 100 best-selling games and the most played games with a controller.

Two years post-launch, Palworld has seen a drop to just 3% of its peak concurrent player count. However, with an all-time high of 2.1 million players, it still enjoys a robust daily player base of around 50,000 to 70,000.

In a recent tweet responding to a post from the official Palworld account about its achievements and upcoming news regarding the 1.0 release, communications director and designer John ‘Bucky’ Buckley addressed critics who view the lower player count as a sign of the game being “dead.” He expressed gratitude for the community’s ongoing support, cheekily remarking, “not bad for a dead game!!”

Looking ahead, the upcoming Home Sweet Home update may not be as packed with content as some players might hope, but the lead developer assures that it will contribute to making the 1.0 launch the best it can be.
