Vecna Joins Dead by Daylight as the Latest Killer in Stranger Things Crossover
Stranger Things may have concluded, but the collaborations continue to thrive. The beloved Netflix series is making a comeback in the game Dead by Daylight, introducing two new Survivors and a new Killer inspired by the show.
Now available in Dead by Daylight’s Steam public test build and officially launching on January 27, Dead by Daylight: Stranger Things Chapter 2 features heroes Eleven and Dustin Henderson, along with the formidable Vecna (also known as “The First”). They join the existing Stranger Things Survivors, Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington, and the Killer Demogorgon, which were added back in 2019.
To keep the nostalgia alive, Behaviour Interactive and Netflix are rolling out a couple of Legendary outfits for Dead by Daylight: Eddie Munson for Dustin and Robin Buckley for Nancy. Players will have the chance to battle for survival (or take down their Stranger Things-inspired foes) in the game’s rendition of Hawkins National Laboratory.
While specific details about the new Survivors’ abilities haven’t been disclosed, Vecna’s powers have been teased in a recent announcement:
Vecna, The First, wields dark abilities that are sure to keep Survivors on edge. He can manipulate the environment, manifesting and weaponizing elements from the Upside Down within The Fog. Sinister vines can strike unexpectedly as Vecna vanishes underground, only to reappear and curse anyone in his path. The eerie sound of grandfather clocks scattered throughout the Map might be the Survivors’ only hope…
Stranger Things recently wrapped up its fifth and final season on Netflix, delivering a cathartic and emotional conclusion after nearly a decade. Although the series has ended and creators Matt and Ross Duffer are set to embark on new projects at Paramount, Netflix isn’t entirely done with the Stranger Things universe. An animated series and a new live-action spinoff are in development, with the Duffers remaining “heavily involved.”
For now, fans of Stranger Things can indulge in rewatches, the Broadway play, and, of course, games of Dead by Daylight.
