Get Ready to Dive into Dragon Quest VII Reimagined with an Early Demo Release!
Square Enix has revealed that a demo for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be available starting tomorrow, January 7. Players will also have the opportunity to transfer their save data to the full game when it launches next month, allowing for an early start to this RPG adventure. While the exact content of the demo remains under wraps, Square Enix has teased that players will receive Maribel’s Day Off Dress as a reward in the full game. The free demo for DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined will be accessible on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam beginning January 7. Your progress will carry over into the full game, which is set to release on February 5, 2026. ⚔️
This marks the second consecutive month that Square Enix has rolled out a demo for a major RPG title. Last month, players got a taste of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, with its full release coming later this month. Originally launched in 2000 for PlayStation, Dragon Quest VII made its North American debut in 2001. The game has seen a previous remake with a 3DS version in 2013, making this the second time it’s getting a fresh look. This time around, Square Enix aims to tackle the original’s slower pacing. The director has hinted that the remake will focus on getting players into the action more swiftly, and the demo should provide a sneak peek at this revamped approach. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is set to launch on February 5 and will be available on PC, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. Preorders are currently open, complete with bonuses for early supporters. Additionally, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Quest franchise.
