Skip the meteorite mining in StarRupture—here’s a better way to gather Calcium!

Before long, you’ll master the mechanics of Wolfram and Titanium in StarRupture, quickly enhancing the automated miners you set up during the tutorial. However, you’ll soon find yourself in need of vast quantities of Calcium, and figuring out where to find it can be a challenge.

Avoid the temptation to waste time mining meteorites for meager amounts of Calcium Ore. To put it in perspective, you’ll need a staggering 1,000 Calcium to unlock the Smelter Calcium Block upgrade in the Recipe Station, and even more to craft the Calcite Sheets and Calcite Blocks necessary to elevate your Moon Energy corporation from level three to four. The solution is straightforward: you need an automated Calcium miner, so here’s your game plan.

Calcium can be found in small quantities within both small and large meteorites, but your primary target should be Calcium Ore deposits. These are large sandstone ledges, often featuring puddles on their surface.

You can locate one Calcium Ore deposit almost directly north of your starting orbital lander, with another directly to the east. If you’ve upgraded your map, the Calcium veins will show up as large sandy patches.

However, mining it isn’t as straightforward as it seems. Given the distance from your starting point to where you’ll establish a base during the tutorial, you’ll need to set up a second base further out (and don’t forget to pack some food and water). If you’re like many players, you might need a refresher on how to do that.

Once your new base is operational, your excavators will begin extracting Calcium, which you can then gather from the miner for the Smelter Calcium Block upgrade in the Recipe Station. From there, you can start producing Calcium Blocks in bulk, transforming them into Calcite Sheets, and so forth, just as you did with Wolfram and Titanium.
