Ikea’s Compact Kallsup Speakers: Affordable, Vibrant, and Surprisingly Powerful

Ikea has introduced the adorable and vibrant Kallsup Bluetooth speakers, priced at just $10 (€5 in Europe) each, featuring seamless Bluetooth pairing. You can connect one to your phone, and with a simple two-button sequence, you can add another Kallsup to the mix. Theoretically, you can link up to 100 speakers, though the team I spoke with at CES, where Ikea is showcasing these speakers for the first time, mentioned they’ve only managed to pair 40 in their office. Game on!

Crafted by Swedish designer Ola Wihlborg, this portable square speaker measures 2.75 inches on each side. It has small legs on the bottom, a speaker grill on the side, and two buttons for pairing and play/pause on top. Available in white, pink, and lime green, the Kallsup charges via USB-C, boasting a battery life of up to 9 hours at 50% volume, and the battery is replaceable.

I had the chance to test out nine Kallsups in Ikea’s suite and was pleasantly surprised by the robust sound from these compact devices. To add more speakers, I simply pressed the Bluetooth button on each new unit to power it on, waited for the startup sound, and held down the play button for a few seconds until the music kicked in. It took just a couple of seconds for each speaker, and once all nine were connected, the hotel suite filled with impressive volume.

Imagine scattering a bunch of these around a room—or even in a garden, though they aren’t waterproof—for a splash of color and a whole lot of sound. The Kallsup utilizes Bluetooth 5.3 and is set to hit stores in April 2026.
