Ikea Adds Matter Compatibility to Two New Stylish Lamps

Ikea is ramping up its Matter support by introducing upgrades to some of its existing home furnishings, starting with two revamped lamps showcased at CES 2026. The Varmblixt donut lamp is receiving a subtle redesign to enhance its new color-changing smart features, while the new Varmblixt pendant lamp allows for precise adjustments to the warmth of its white LED lighting.

The original Varmblixt donut lamp had a glossy finish that reflected room lighting, but the updated smart version sports a soft, matte white finish that highlights its internal glow. With the included Bilresa remote, users can smoothly cycle through 12 curated preset colors designed by artist Sabine Marcelis, who also contributed to the original lamp’s design.

Connected to the Ikea Home Smart app via the Dirigera hub, the Varmblixt smart donut lamp offers an expanded selection of 40 colors, along with the ability to adjust brightness levels. While Ikea’s previously announced Matter-compatible smart bulbs are already available in select European markets, the $99.99 smart donut lamp is set to launch in April 2026.

The $149.99 smart Varmblixt pendant lamp will also debut in April 2026. Similar to its donut counterpart, it can be controlled with the Bilresa remote, but instead of changing colors, this pendant transitions from cool white light that mimics daylight to a warm yellow glow reminiscent of candlelight. It can also be integrated into smart home routines and automations through Ikea’s mobile app and Matter-compatible hub.
