Introducing the Lenovo Legion Go 2 with SteamOS!

The market for handheld gaming PCs is booming, and the Steam Deck has carved out a significant niche, largely due to its operating system. SteamOS outperforms Windows on these devices, and now it’s making its way to another contender: Lenovo’s Legion Go 2. Recently, Lenovo introduced the Legion Go S featuring SteamOS, but for gamers seeking a more robust device with Switch-like controllers, the Legion Go 2 stands out. Set to launch in June with SteamOS preinstalled, the Legion Go 2 will start at $1,199. While preorders aren’t available yet, expect listings to pop up at major retailers soon.

When stacked against other handheld gaming PCs, the Legion Go 2 delivers impressive specs for the price. The premium version is equipped with the AMD Z2 Extreme chip, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 74Wh battery. The base model features the AMD Z2 SoC, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and the same battery capacity. Both models boast an outstanding 8.8-inch PureSight OLED display, offering a 144Hz refresh rate with VRR for vibrant and fluid visuals. The detachable TrueStrike controllers are another highlight, allowing you to switch between handheld, tabletop, console, or FPS modes seamlessly.

SteamOS not only provides a smoother user experience but also enhances performance through its optimizations. However, this means you’ll be limited to your Steam library, unlike Windows 11 handhelds that can access multiple storefronts. If you’re okay with the less-than-ideal experience of Windows on a smaller screen, you can still find a Legion Go 2 running Windows 11 at major retailers. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, the compact Legion Go S is available for $100 less.
