Witcher Season 5 Set to Premiere This Year, Concluding the Series
The fifth and final season of The Witcher is set to premiere this year, as confirmed by Netflix. In a recent blog post outlining its major releases, the streaming service announced that Season 5 will arrive sometime this year, though the exact date remains under wraps. Back in April 2024, it was revealed that this season would mark the conclusion of the series, so the news of its ending isn’t unexpected.
Netflix also shared a brief synopsis for Season 5: “The time of the end is nigh: Dark forces are aligning all across the Continent with villainous designs on Ciri. Even if Geralt and Yennefer can save their daughter and fulfill their last wish of reuniting as a family, they’ll have to face obstacles—and enemies—the likes of which they’ve never faced before.”
The Witcher first hit Netflix in 2019, followed by Season 2 in 2021, Season 3 in 2023, and Season 4 in 2024, with Seasons 4 and 5 filmed back-to-back. Henry Cavill portrayed Geralt in the first three seasons but stepped down, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role for Season 4. Hemsworth will reprise his role in Season 5, joined by Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan as Yennefer and Ciri, respectively.
On the gaming front, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains the latest installment in the main series, released in 2015. The development of The Witcher 4 is underway, but a release date has yet to be announced.
