This exclusive Pokémon card could be a game-changer for battling resellers.

To celebrate the launch of an exciting new Pokémon book, The Pokémon Company is collaborating with London’s Natural History Museum to create a pop-up shop featuring a range of exclusive merchandise. Fans can look forward to a selection of items such as stationery, plush toys, and artwork inspired by the museum. A standout offering for collectors is the limited-edition Pikachu card, which will be given as a gift with purchase at the pop-up. This shop will be open both on-site and online from January 26 to April 19.

The book, titled *Pokécology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology*, is a highly anticipated release filled with stunning illustrations that showcase Pokémon in their natural environments. It’s akin to what Pokémon professors might compile after trainers gather extensive data, or what Charles Darwin might have sketched if the Galapagos Islands were inhabited by Pidgeys instead of finches. The book takes a serious approach to Pokémon, treating them as subjects worthy of scientific exploration. Authored by Yoshinari Yonehara and illustrated by Chihiro Kinoshita, both of whom hold doctoral degrees in animal behavior and ecology, it promises to be a fascinating read.

The Pokémon Company frequently issues special cards to commemorate major tournaments and partnerships. Many of these promotional cards feature the franchise’s iconic electric mascot. However, this latest museum card is notable for its larger size. While the exact dimensions haven’t been disclosed, its availability will be limited, with fans allowed to obtain only one card per purchase.

According to a press release, some items from the pop-up will also be available outside the museum, including the Pikachu card. However, a broader release will be limited to select retailers in the UK, and the card won’t be available online through the Pokémon Center. While resellers may show interest, it seems they will face challenges in acquiring large quantities this time around. If you’re feeling left out, you might want to check out the Pokémon Fossil exhibit coming to Chicago later this year.

The press release also notes that all profits from purchases made in the museum shop and its online store, including Pokémon merchandise, will support the Natural History Museum’s charitable mission, which includes the work of 400 scientists dedicated to research and addressing global challenges.
