Minecraft Introduces Adorable New Baby Mobs

Baby mobs in Minecraft are set to receive a delightful redesign in an upcoming update. Mojang Studios has unveiled a sneak peek at the remastered baby mobs currently in testing. Once the update rolls out, players can expect wolf pups, kittens, piglets, calves, baby chickens, baby ocelots, lambs, and baby rabbits to be “even chunkier, floofier, and more charming than ever before.” In a video announcement, game director Agnes Larsson noted that the previous baby mobs were merely scaled-down versions of their adult counterparts. This update will give these little creatures unique designs and entirely new sound recordings inspired by real animals.

Larsson also highlighted a subtle yet impactful change that enhances the baby mobs’ youthful look. “Typically, mobs in Minecraft have two-pixel eyes,” she explained. “But now baby mobs have just one, which creates a new vibe for them that is simply adorable.” Additionally, players will have the ability to name their baby mobs using craftable labels made from paper and any metal nugget. Those eager to see the changes can check them out in the Java snapshot and the Bedrock beta preview right now. In December, Mojang Studios introduced the Mounts of Mayhem update, allowing players to ride animals into battle, among other features. Minecraft also ranked as one of the top games on the App Store in 2025, according to Apple.
