Analyst Confident in Major 2026 DLC for The Witcher 3, Potentially from The Witcher 1 Remake Team
Rumors about a potential DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are gaining traction, especially as one of the original sources has reaffirmed their claim that this classic RPG is set to receive a final expansion.
Polish gaming insider Borys Nieśpielak has been discussing an upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3 for several months, referencing multiple independent sources. Recently, an analyst reached out to another key figure in the rumor mill, who expressed complete confidence that significant new content from CD Projekt Red is on the horizon this year.
This analyst, Mateusz Chrzanowski, backs up his assertion with more than just hearsay. He points to CDPR’s previous comments about the possibility of new content for one of its titles, along with the company’s incentive program that rewards employees based on studio revenue.
Chrzanowski explains that to meet the first revenue threshold of PLN 700 million (approximately $193 million), something more substantial than a simple update or niche platform version is necessary. He believes that another expansion would be a logical step for CD Projekt Red to achieve this goal, although he also mentions the potential for a new Witcher-themed game, similar to the CRPG The Thaumaturge, developed by veterans from the Witcher series.
He emphasizes that CDPR is typically cautious with their statements, suggesting that any hint about new content is deliberate. This implies that new content is likely on the way, whether it comes from the original CD Projekt Red team or from Fool’s Theory.
While the core team behind The Witcher 3 was disbanded after the release of the Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, it would make sense for CDPR to create a bridge connecting The Witcher 3 to The Witcher 4, which is still a few years away from release.
