Minecraft Set to Unleash an Adorably Dangerous Wave of Cuteness

The upcoming update for Minecraft is set to make all the baby animals an astonishing 2,740 percent cuter. I ran the numbers and watched the new trailer for the Spring Drop multiple times to confirm this.

Previously, Minecraft created its baby animals by simply scaling down the adult versions while keeping their heads the same size. While that approach worked, there was definitely room for enhancement. In the next update, slated for spring, all the younger animals will get unique designs, complete with fresh animations, sound effects, and the most adorable little eyes you can imagine.

Seriously, how are we going to handle those adorable critters? Just think about the bunnies and the new wolf pups! The way the bunnies tilt their heads and twitch their ears is simply irresistible!

This is also a fantastic way to promote a game that really doesn’t need much advertising. Mojang’s Agnes Larsson is genuinely excited about the new pups, showcasing Minecraft as a game that offers so much more than just the PvP antics seen on various YouTube channels.

I pushed the video to its limits by showing it to my 11-year-old son, who’s trying to maintain a tough exterior. He completely melted at the sight. Initially, he tried to play it cool with some half-hearted, “Yeah, that’s sweet,” comments, but then he was caught off guard and exclaimed, “KITTENS!” After that, he was all in. He regained some cool points when he learned that name tags will soon be craftable, letting out a YouTuber-style “Yesssssssss” as he noted the required ingredients. Eventually, his Switch called him away as he and his classmates dove into a new world on their shared Realm, just before they were all pulled back to reality for school. I kept watching, captivated, until Larsson was back to scratching a real pig’s belly with a rake.

I can’t help but worry about returning to Donut SMP to a world that still lacks those adorable little chicks and baby highland cattle that I just want to hug until they pop.

All of this is currently available in the Snapshot, Beta, and Preview versions of Minecraft, though there’s no official date for when it will be fully released.
