Get ready for an in-depth look at Fable and Forza Horizon 6 gameplay at the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct!
Xbox has announced that it will host another Developer Direct showcase, with the first in-depth look at Fable and Forza Horizon 6 scheduled for January 22.
Similar to how Nintendo typically holds major Direct presentations in February, June, and September, Xbox is making January its own as it gears up for this month’s Developer Direct. The announcement was made on Xbox Wire, following comments from Matt Booty about the upcoming event.
The highlight of the showcase will be an “extended look at Fable.” After a long development period at Playground Games and a noticeable absence throughout 2025—aside from a delay announcement—fans will finally get a substantial glimpse of the game.
According to the blog, “Devs from the Playground team will unveil the magic and mischief that awaits players in this fresh new beginning for the franchise, including a first look at some stunning new gameplay.” The Fable Twitter account also teased it as “our first deep dive into the game.”
Playground Games will be busy during the showcase, as they will also provide a “deep dive on the much-anticipated Forza Horizon 6.” Announced last year with a confirmed setting in Japan, details have been scarce, making this our first chance to see what this beloved racing series has planned for the Japanese landscape.
Additionally, we’ll get a look at Game Freak’s “intense one-person, one-dog action RPG” Beast of Reincarnation. This title was revealed last year at the Xbox Showcase, and Game Freak will showcase “our protagonist Emma’s innovative plant manipulation actions and gameplay with her canine companion, Koo.”
It’s also interesting to note that the past two January Developer Directs have included surprise game drops, such as Hi-Fi Rush in 2023 and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black alongside the announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4 last year, so there may be an unexpected reveal this time as well.
