Xbox Developer Direct Set for January 22, Featuring Fable and Forza Horizon 6 Gameplay Showcase

Microsoft’s annual Xbox Developer Direct is set for January 22nd this year. This fourth installment will shine a spotlight on two of the most anticipated Xbox titles: Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, along with an exciting first look at Beast of Reincarnation from Game Freak.

During the Developer Direct, Playground Games will showcase the first gameplay footage of Forza Horizon 6, which is confirmed to be set in Japan. Players can look forward to exploring the vibrant neon lights and architecture of Tokyo City, as well as an expansive open world that spans various regions of Japan.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on Playground Games’ other major title, Fable, especially after its release was pushed to 2026. However, it seems Fable is still on track for a release this year, coinciding with Xbox’s 25th anniversary. According to Joe Skrebels, editor-in-chief of Xbox Wire, “Devs from the Playground team will unveil the magic and mischief that awaits players in this fresh new beginning for the franchise, including a first look at some stunning new gameplay.”

Additionally, Game Freak, renowned for its Pokémon RPGs, will present segments of its upcoming action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation. Slated for release in 2026 on Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC, players will take on the role of Emma, who will be joined by a canine companion.

This year’s Xbox Developer Direct will kick off at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT / 6 PM UK on January 22nd and will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube.
