Baby Waluigi Joins the Fun in Mario Tennis Fever!

Nintendo has dropped a fresh overview trailer for Mario Tennis Fever, the highly anticipated sports title for Switch 2. This video highlights various game modes and special rackets, but the standout news is the introduction of Baby Waluigi as a playable character. After a brief tease in last year’s announcement trailer, Baby Waluigi is ready to shine. He’s not alone, as the game also welcomes newcomers like Goomba, Nabbit, Piranha Plant, and Baby Wario, bringing the total roster to 38 characters.

In addition to the character lineup, players can look forward to 30 Fever Rackets, each with unique abilities. For example, the Pokey Racket can spawn enemies on your opponent’s side, while the Golden Dash Racket enhances your character’s agility. The trailer also explained how to counter Fever shots: if players can volley the ball back without letting it bounce, they can send the special effect back to their opponent. The Ice Racket, for instance, creates a frozen area on the court that can be volleyed back instead of affecting your side.

Other interesting features revealed include the option to disable Fever Rackets for more straightforward gameplay. Plus, the game supports GameShare, allowing nearby players on Switch 2 and Switch to join local multiplayer matches without needing their own copy. Mario Tennis Fever is set to launch on February 12, with preorders now available for the Switch 2 exclusive. This marks the first new entry in the Mario spin-off series since Mario Tennis Aces in 2018.
