Embark Takes Action Against Cheating in Arc Raiders: “We’re Revamping Rules and Enhancing Detection Systems”

Arc Raiders is tackling the growing issue of cheating and unfair exploits, with developer Embark Studios stepping up to introduce new tools and penalties aimed at cleaning up the gameplay experience.

In a message shared on the game’s official Discord, community admin Ossen stated, “We’ve seen the discussion around the topic of cheaters in ARC Raiders. Please know that we are taking this issue very seriously and are listening to, and acting on your feedback.”

While experiences may vary based on your playtime, region, or platform, there’s a noticeable increase in reports of cheaters disrupting the game. Anecdotally, I’ve encountered a few on PC myself. In response, Embark is enhancing its anti-cheat measures.

“Over the next few weeks, we are implementing significant changes to our rulesets and deploying new detection mechanisms to identify and remove cheaters,” the statement elaborates. “This includes updating our Anti-Cheat systems for improved detection and bans, as well as applying client-side fixes specifically addressing the ‘out of map’ glitch. Furthermore, we are introducing tools for streamers to help mitigate stream sniping.”

The “out of map” exploits have become particularly prevalent, as they require no special setup—just some unconventional movement to gain a significant advantage over opponents, allowing players to attack from unreachable heights. Fortunately, these issues may be easier to resolve compared to the ongoing battle against cheating technology.

One aspect that remains somewhat unclear in this early Discord announcement is the nature of the bans being discussed. Arc Raiders has been known for its leniency, often issuing 30-day bans where other developers might opt for permanent ones. With Embark intensifying its anti-cheat efforts, we might see a shift toward harsher and more frequent penalties.

Many players, especially on PC, are also expressing frustration over mouse macros that enable instant kills with semi-automatic weapons like the Kettle rifle. It remains to be seen if these concerns will be addressed in the upcoming anti-cheat updates.

Embark has previously patched exploits that allowed players to access locked rooms, turning them into fiery traps unless properly unlocked. It will be interesting to see if those exploiting out-of-bounds areas face similar fiery consequences.

In a lighter note, a player’s request to recycle rubber ducks was met with accusations of “blasphemy,” leading to a humorous backlash from the community: “You mess with the duck, you mess with all of us!”
