The Fantastic Four Make Their MCU Debut in Avengers: Doomsday Teaser Set in Wakanda
The fourth teaser for Avengers: Doomsday has hit theaters, finally introducing the Fantastic Four into the MCU as they touch down in Wakanda, encountering Shuri, M’Baku, and others.
In this teaser, which hasn’t been officially released online yet (we might have to hold tight for a few more days), Shuri reflects on her brother T’Challa and other loved ones she has lost. We catch glimpses of various Wakandans and familiar Black Panther characters, including Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, who now sports a version of his black, collared bodysuit instead of just trunks.
The crossover between the Fantastic Four and the Wakandans makes perfect sense, given their intertwined comic book histories. Black Panther (T’Challa) made his debut in 1966’s Fantastic Four #52, laying the groundwork for the expansive narrative that would eventually encompass all of Wakanda.
Namor is also deeply connected to the Fantastic Four. Although he first appeared in 1939’s Marvel Comics #1, marking him as one of Marvel’s earliest characters, he was reintroduced in the modern Marvel Universe in 1962’s Fantastic Four #4, establishing his complex role as a character who often blurs the lines between hero and villain. Plus, there’s Namor’s ongoing infatuation with Sue Storm, whom he wishes to win over from Reed Richards (though that’s a long shot).
And let’s not forget Doctor Doom, the primary antagonist of Avengers: Doomsday, who is the arch-nemesis of the Fantastic Four. His first MCU appearance was a brief cameo in the post-credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18. In the meantime, keep an eye on all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows currently in development.
