Sebastian Stan Joins The Batman Part II as Harvey Dent

In a swift turn of events, Sebastian Stan has been officially cast as the new Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II, following a recent leak. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Stan, widely recognized for his role as Bucky Barnes in the MCU, is making the leap into another comic book universe that fans have eagerly anticipated since the release of The Batman in 2022 and the engaging Penguin spin-off series.

Stan will portray Harvey Dent, Gotham City’s District Attorney, who faces a tragic incident that leaves him permanently scarred, transforming him into the villainous Two-Face. Given his experience with complex character arcs, this role seems like a natural fit for Stan, who has expertly developed Bucky Barnes into the brainwashed assassin known as the Winter Soldier since 2011, only to be redeemed by his friend Steve Rogers.

The last actor to embody Harvey Dent on the big screen was Aaron Eckhart in Christopher Nolan’s iconic film, The Dark Knight. With Robert Pattinson returning as Batman, it remains uncertain how Dent’s descent into villainy will be portrayed. It would be intriguing to see Stan as an ally to Batman before he ultimately becomes the coin-flipping adversary, especially as he faces threats from other corners of Gotham.

In addition to Stan’s casting, Scarlett Johansson joined the project in December for a role that has yet to be revealed. Barry Keoghan is also expected to reprise his role as The Joker, though it’s unclear if he’ll make his appearance from behind a locked door like in the first film. Fans will have to wait until The Batman: Part II hits theaters on October 1, 2027, to see how these characters align.
