Palworld to Launch Official Card Game This July Amid Ongoing Pokémon Comparisons
Following the success of Pokémon and Digimon, Palworld is venturing into the realm of tabletop gaming with its own official trading card game. The Palworld Official Card Game is set to launch this summer, bringing monster battles and base-building to life in a new format.
This new venture from Pocketpair is being developed in collaboration with a well-known Japanese card game publisher, recognized for its work on various trading card games, including Cardfight!! Vanguard. According to the official details, the game pits two players against each other, each commanding a team of creatures to attack, defend, and gather resources.
Similar to the video game, players will focus on constructing their stronghold using the monsters they control. The objective appears to be to conquer the opponent’s stronghold, although specifics about the rules remain somewhat unclear at this stage.
A teaser showcases a variety of pals in action, hinting at the characters that will be featured in the initial set. Notable pals like Lamball, Pengullet, Flopie, Grizzbolt, and the charming floating treasure chest Mimog are included, many of which have become iconic since the game’s debut in early 2024.
With nearly 200 pals available, there’s ample opportunity for expansions and diverse deck strategies, laying the groundwork for a dynamic card game experience. This ambitious move comes just two years after the franchise’s launch, but if the community is engaged, it makes sense to expand. The Pokémon TCG also debuted in the same year as the first Game Boy games in Japan.
The Palworld Official Card Game is scheduled for release on July 30, 2026, with more information expected to be revealed leading up to the launch.
