Godzilla Minus Zero Set to Release in the US

A new Godzilla film is set to stomp into North American theaters in late 2026. Following the heroic efforts of former World War II kamikaze pilot Kōichi Shikishima, who stopped the colossal creature from wreaking havoc in Godzilla Minus One, the iconic monster will return in Godzilla Minus Zero.

GKids Films, responsible for the film’s theatrical distribution, has announced that Godzilla Minus Zero will hit US screens on November 6, 2026, just three days after its Japanese debut on November 3, 2026. Release dates for other regions are still under wraps.

This upcoming installment marks the 39th entry in the Godzilla franchise and serves as a direct sequel to the acclaimed Godzilla Minus One, which premiered on November 3, 2023. Notably, this date aligns with the annual Godzilla Day, celebrating the release of the original Godzilla film on November 3, 1954.

The simultaneous release dates are a first for the series, as fans are typically accustomed to a longer wait between Japanese and American releases; for instance, Godzilla Minus One was released in the US on December 1.

Having earned over $116 million globally and snagged an Oscar for Best Visual Effects, Godzilla Minus One was a standout success in 2023. Like its predecessor, Godzilla Minus Zero is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who also manages the visual effects. Ryûnosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe are expected to reprise their roles as Kōichi Shikishima and Noriko Ōishi, respectively.
