Instagram resolves the glitch that triggered unwanted password reset emails.
If you found yourself among the many who received a password reset email from Instagram recently, the platform has announced that the problem has been resolved. However, the specifics of the issue remain vague. Attempts to get clarification from Meta have gone unanswered. What we do know is that the emails were triggered by an “external party,” and Instagram assures users that they can safely disregard them.
The company shared on X that the situation has been addressed and emphasized that there was no breach of its systems. This statement seems to clash with findings from Malwarebytes, which reported that data from 17.5 million Instagram accounts—including usernames, physical addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses—was found on the dark web.
