Arc Raiders’ First-Person Perspective Delivers a Chilling Experience

Arc Raiders can be a nail-biting experience, even in its more relaxed moments. When playing solo, you might find yourself on edge, unsure if the player you encounter will be friendly or hostile. Then there are the Arc enemies—relentless robots that will chase you down with a single-minded focus until you’re taken out.

One player, known as Short_Satisfaction_9, experimented with console commands—though this feature has since been patched out—to create a makeshift first-person view. In their initial video, the results were far from flawless: the weapon bobbed excessively, the character model’s face occasionally clipped in and out of view, and climbing ladders looked a bit silly.

However, the combat scenes were intense. In one encounter with a couple of Hornets, they were firing wildly at the airborne foes while their team awaited extraction. Toward the end of the clip, they aimed at the Queen when a Leaper suddenly swooped in front of them, delivering a classic jump scare.

After adjusting a few settings, the same player refined the perspective further and shared a second video.

“In my second test, I wanted to explore darker environments and focus on Arc enemies,” Short_Satisfaction_9 noted. “This might be a hot take, but I really hope we get a first-person option in the future. Having Leapers chase you in first-person gives you a Dying Light vibe, which is hard to replicate in third-person.”

Unfortunately, as mentioned, the ability to do this has been removed by Embark Studios. However, there’s potential for a first-person mode to be introduced in Arc Raiders down the line, and judging by the feedback on the Reddit posts, it would likely be well-received.
