Hytale Aims for Over 1 Million Players at Launch as Development Challenges Persist: “No Compromises, No Game”
After more than ten years in the making, the highly anticipated launch of the Minecraft-inspired RPG, Hytale, is just around the corner, and the team at Hypixel is bracing for a wave of excitement. Simon Collins-Laflamme, the founder of Hypixel and the driving force behind Hytale, has been reflecting on the journey and is urging players to prepare for a hectic release.
“The last few months have been incredibly challenging for my family as I’ve been fully immersed in reviving the game and rebuilding the team, working seven days a week,” Collins-Laflamme shared on X/Twitter. “I haven’t been around much for my kids during this time, missing out on milestones and precious moments that can never be reclaimed.”
Once Hytale is up and running, he plans to recalibrate his family life. “I’ll be able to spend more time with them once the game stabilizes after launch, as I’ll finally feel relieved from this burden,” he noted. “No sacrifices, no Hytale.”
As the release date approaches, Collins-Laflamme reflects on the sacrifices made by the team, the community, and himself. The anticipation is palpable, with expectations of “over 1 million players” on January 13, as mentioned in another post on X/Twitter. Fans are encouraged to download the launcher and log in early to help ease the inevitable server issues.
It’s incredible that Hytale has made it this far. After being acquired by Riot, the project faced an abrupt cancellation in June 2025, but Collins-Laflamme and his team managed to reclaim it for a swift overhaul and early access launch. Regardless of how the next few days unfold, it’s already a tale worth sharing with future generations.
In a recent interaction, the Hytale lead hinted that a “dream” feature had transitioned from concept to reality with a simple, yet powerful, response: “Actually.”
