Lego Pokémon Unveiled: What’s Changed with Pikachu?

The first Lego Pokemon sets have been unveiled, and while most are receiving the enthusiastic reactions you’d expect, Pikachu’s reception is a bit more mixed.

Three Lego Pokemon sets are set to launch on February 27, 2026: Pikachu, Eevee, and a triple-pack featuring Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. The toy company claims the latter is one of its “largest ever display sets,” and it’s easy to see why. With nearly 7,000 pieces, this set is a substantial build. It certainly competes with the most impressive Lego sets in terms of visual impact. However, opinions on Pikachu are divided. While some fans are excited about the electric mouse, others are less impressed with the franchise’s iconic character.

“The Kanto starters look amazing but probably costs my life savings,” one user commented on a forum. “Eevee looks good too. Pikachu is not great.” This sentiment seems to resonate with many, as another user even suggested that a competitor did a better job with their version of the Pokemon. Ouch – those words hit hard.
