Check Out This Epic 70-Player Super Mario 64 Relay!
This year celebrates the 30th anniversary of Super Mario 64, originally crafted as a solo experience for the Nintendo 64. While multiplayer wasn’t part of the plan, this year’s Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) charity livestream saw a remarkable twist: 70 speedrunners teamed up for a single 70-star run. It quickly became evident that these players were well-versed in the fastest routes to collect stars, showcasing Mario’s athletic prowess like never before. They made even the most challenging platforming sections look effortless. The entire speedrun clocked in at just under two hours. With 120 stars available, there’s potential for even larger Super Mario 64 relays in future AGDQ events. Additionally, a Mario Kart World speedrunner completed the All ? Panels category in under 30 minutes during the current AGDQ. In recent years, Super Mario 64 enthusiasts have achieved the “impossible” 1-Up trick and unlocked a long-sealed in-game door. A daring modder even integrated Minecraft into Super Mario 64 with a hack that functions on the original N64 cartridge.
