Steam Sale Features Hidden Free Game Codes in Background Art

At any moment, Steam is buzzing with a couple of sales, often featuring background art that blends into the background. However, Team 17’s latest sale has introduced a unique twist: they cleverly tucked free game codes within the sale artwork for those sharp-eyed enough to find them.

On January 12, Team 17 kicked off its Hidden Treasures Sale on Steam, showcasing discounts on over 50 games, from recent favorites like Dredge to classics such as Golf With Friends and Worms Reloaded. This sale runs until January 19, offering some fantastic deals.

The real gems, however, were cleverly concealed. On the Hidden Treasures event page, a pirate-themed backdrop brimming with gold and treasure sets the scene. If you scroll down and look closely past the game deals, you’ll notice faint text resembling parchment paper. Hidden within this text are alphanumeric codes that serve as keys for various Team 17 games.

Shortly after the sale launched, this intriguing detail was highlighted by a savvy deal hunter on social media, but by that time, it appeared that most, if not all, of the codes had already been claimed. It seems likely that every code has now been snatched up.

Even if you missed out on a free game, the sale still offers plenty of opportunities. Here are some of the standout deals I found in the Team 17 Steam sale. While they may not be free, they certainly beat paying full price.
