Palworld Developer Responds to Critics: “Focus on Better Activities” After Card Game Reveal
John ‘Bucky’ Buckley, the manager at Pocketpair, is once again addressing the critics of their popular survival game, Palworld. Two years after its successful early access launch, he suggests that detractors might want to “use your time better.”
Recently, it was announced that Palworld will be expanding into the realm of physical trading card games, set to debut this July. Named the Palworld Official Card Game, it inevitably draws comparisons to Pokémon, but its gameplay mechanics promise a unique twist, featuring resource gathering, base building, and battling alongside your Pals.
Following the announcement, Bucky took to Twitter to express his enthusiasm, noting the excitement surrounding the new card game. He also found humor in the negative reactions, stating, “Hilarious seeing all the meltdowns too.”
He pointed out that while “hating” on Palworld was a trend at launch, it’s puzzling to see it continue two years later. He encouraged critics to redirect their energy: “Go play games or something!”
Bucky emphasized that with an increasing number of game releases each year, there’s no shortage of options. He concluded, “If you’re still ranting about a game you supposedly don’t like after two years, then I’m thinking it’s a you problem now… Go play something else. So many incredible games!!”
While many are excited about the upcoming card game, some Pokémon fans have voiced concerns online, claiming that Palworld is merely rehashing ideas from The Pokémon Company. Others argue that resources allocated to the trading card game would be better spent on the main game, especially since Palworld’s long-awaited 1.0 launch is expected later this year, marking its exit from early access.
