Robert De Niro Once Stopped by the Revenge of the Sith Set to Catch Anakin and Obi-Wan’s Epic Duel, Reveals Hayden Christensen

Hayden Christensen recently shared an interesting tidbit about Robert De Niro’s surprise visit to the set of Revenge of the Sith, where he witnessed the intense duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

“I remember one day while we were filming that fight, Robert De Niro showed up just to see what we were up to—not us specifically, but George, as he wanted to check out what George was doing. I’m a huge fan of his, so I was pretty excited. I was standing with Ewan [McGregor], and Ewan asked me, ‘Is that Robert De Niro over there?’ I looked and thought, ‘Yeah, I think it is,'” Christensen recounted at Fan Expo New Orleans.

He continued, “We were thrilled he was there, and then he came over and was really friendly. I used to do a lot of push-ups before each take to get my heart rate up and feel a bit exhausted, and he came up to me and said, ‘I see you doing push-ups before the takes. I do that, too.’ That was a nice moment.”

At the same convention, Christensen stirred up some buzz when he sidestepped a casual question about what advice Force ghost Anakin would give his grandson, Kylo Ren. This led fans to speculate that he might be holding back due to the Hunt for Ben Solo movie—a canceled Star Wars project that would have followed Ben (aka Kylo Ren) after his demise in The Rise of Skywalker. However, without any concrete evidence of this film’s existence, it’s all just speculation for now.

Fans can look forward to seeing Christensen in Ahsoka season 2, which currently lacks a release date. After season 1 concluded with Force ghost Anakin watching over his former Padawan, Snips, on Peridea, it seems likely that season 2 will also feature Anakin as a ghost—unless there are more flashbacks through the World Between Worlds.

Next on the Star Wars agenda is The Mandalorian and Grogu, set to hit theaters on May 22.
