A Guide to Respec Your Characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2

To respec in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you’ll need a Magic Mirror, which becomes accessible only in Act 2 unless you’re using the special Gift Bag mods. Once you locate the mirror, you’ll have significant freedom to modify and redefine your character, making it essential to understand how the respec system operates. Here’s a breakdown of how to respec in DOS2 and what to expect in terms of limitations.

To respec your character, head to the Magic Mirror located on the lowest deck of the Lady Vengeance ship at coordinates X:94, Y:408. Keep in mind that the mirror won’t be available until you progress to Act 2. Although you can explore the Lady Vengeance before this point, the mirror will only be usable once Act 2 starts and the ship is fully accessible.

There’s also another Magic Mirror in the game, but it’s part of the optional Gift Bag mods included in the Definitive Edition, which disable achievements. If you choose the “Fort Joy Magic Mirror” option from the pause menu, a Magic Mirror will appear in the Arena beneath Fort Joy, accessible via a hatch located in the center of the camp near Griff. This allows you to respec even during Act 1!

The respec process is highly detailed, enabling you to completely rebuild your character from the ground up. You can reassign all the skills and talents you’ve acquired in Divinity: Original Sin 2, regardless of your current level. Plus, you can apply these changes to every Origin companion in your party, and the best part is that it’s entirely free and can be done as many times as you like, so feel free to experiment with your builds.
