Avengers: Doomsday Directors Spark Confusion Over Trailers, Calling Them “Stories” and “Clues” Instead of Teasers

The directors of Avengers: Doomsday, Joe and Anthony Russo, have shared some intriguing insights about the recent series of four character-focused teasers, revealing that they are much more than just promotional snippets.

“What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues… Pay attention,” the Russos stated on Instagram, tagging it with #DoomsdayHasBegun.

To recap, these four teasers have been released alongside screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash, with a new one dropping each week.

The first teaser featured Steve Rogers making his return, followed by a spotlight on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the second. The third teaser, which generated a lot of buzz, showcased Charles Xavier, Magneto, and Cyclops in an X-Men-themed segment. This week, we got a glimpse of a moment shared between Wakanda’s M’Baku and Shuri, along with Ben Grimm from the Fantastic Four.

If we dive into some speculation, it seems the Russos might be hinting at themes of children—or the absence of them—in these teasers.

In the first teaser, Steve Rogers is seen cradling a baby, while Thor discusses his adopted daughter, Love. The other two teasers hint at loss: Cyclops appears to be in a state of rage, possibly due to the loss of someone close.

In Marvel’s comics, Nathan Summers (also known as Cable) plays a significant role. Additionally, the scene in Wakanda raises questions, as neither T’Challa and Nakia’s son, Toussaint, nor Franklin Richards is present. The post-credits scene featuring Doom in the Fantastic Four suggests he has a vested interest in the next generation of heroes and may have his own twisted plans to save a crumbling multiverse.

With the release date for Avengers: Doomsday set for December 18, 2026, there’s plenty of time for theories to develop and excitement to build.
