WoW Players Could Soon Create Their Own Neighborhoods

Players who are feeling unsatisfied with their current World of Warcraft housing options may soon have a new avenue to explore. Currently, those engaging with the game’s recently introduced player housing feature can choose between two types of neighborhoods: a public one that anyone can join, or a private neighborhood exclusive to guild members. However, a third option appears to be on the horizon. The ability to create invite-only charter neighborhoods has recently surfaced for testing in the beta for the upcoming Midnight expansion. While this feature isn’t fully operational yet, players can already name and purchase a charter neighborhood, suggesting it’s on its way.

This charter option allows the owner to invite anyone they wish, even players from opposing factions, enabling Horde and Alliance players to coexist in the same space. Additionally, it permits players from different servers or guilds to join, similar to public neighborhoods. The cost of establishing a charter neighborhood remains a mystery, but if it’s affordable, it could lead to some interesting dynamics. If players can easily set up their own private spaces, we might see a decline in public neighborhoods as they become neglected. Fortunately, players can relocate their homes to more active neighborhoods with minimal hassle.

It’s still uncertain whether these character neighborhoods will launch with the Midnight pre-patch on January 20 or with the full expansion on March 2, or even later. However, players have already been busy crafting impressive housing designs, and granting one individual or a small group control over an entire neighborhood could yield some truly remarkable results. As for the Midnight pre-patch itself, it will bring significant changes, including updates to class talent trees, a new specialization for Demon Hunters, major user interface enhancements, a revamp of the transmog system, and a contentious new policy regarding player-made add-ons that will render many combat-related ones obsolete.
