Stephen Graham Hints at Possible Season 2 for Adolescence on Netflix: “Stay Tuned”
After season 1 made a significant impact, there’s speculation about a potential season 2 of Adolescence on Netflix.
The series features Owen Cooper as a young boy facing accusations of murdering a classmate, with Stephen Graham portraying his father. The show was co-created by Graham and Jack Thorne.
When asked about the possibility of a second season at the Golden Globes, Graham hinted, “I cannot answer that question because it’s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack’s mind, and we’ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned.”
The idea for more content from Adolescence was first mentioned in April 2025, with Dede Gardner, co-president of production company Plan B Entertainment, stating they are “thinking about how they can widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive.”
Adolescence had a remarkable run at the Golden Globes, securing four awards, including Best Limited Series. Graham, Cooper, and Erin Doherty also received acting accolades for their performances.
The series stands as Netflix’s second-most-watched English-language show ever, racking up 142.6 million views.
While the future of the show remains uncertain, season 1 explored the emergence of the manosphere online.
Adolescence has garnered both praise and critical acclaim, even catching the attention of Hideo Kojima, who described it as “a masterful fusion of meticulously calculated one-shot cinematography and direction that draws out the show’s core themes.” He noted how it powerfully illustrates the fear and anguish faced by children during their formative years and the families who support them.
