A Guide to Acquiring Softwood Planks in Hytale
Exploring the vast world of Hytale, I quickly discovered that identifying the various types of trees can be a bit tricky. This became especially apparent when I needed softwood planks to upgrade the Farmer’s Workbench for the first time.
To help you avoid the confusion I faced, here’s a straightforward guide on how to obtain softwood planks. It’s not just about chopping down the right trees; you’ll also need to process the logs. If you’re not yet a seasoned builder, this might be new territory for you.
To craft softwood planks in Hytale, start by chopping down beech or aspen trees to collect their logs. Then, head over to the Builder’s Workbench to transform those logs into planks. Beech trees feature moderately light brown logs with vibrant green leaves, while aspen trees have distinctive white-speckled logs and orange leaves.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Builder’s Workbench, this is where you can create a variety of stylish, processed blocks that enhance your building projects, including steps, windows, doors, and furniture.
You can input various materials into the Builder’s Workbench, but early on, you’ll likely focus on wood. Each wood type yields different results: for instance, oak and ash logs produce hardwood, while birch logs yield lightwood. To get softwood planks, remember to use either beech or aspen logs.
While softwood planks can certainly be used for building, you’ll need five blocks of them to upgrade the Farmer’s Workbench to Tier 2, which unlocks new seeds and farming items. So, it might be wise to save them for the upgrade rather than using them for construction right away.
