Fallout series creator considers reintroducing the terrifying talking Deathclaws.

Fallout’s co-showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet is keeping the door wide open for all sorts of surprises in Prime Video’s adaptation of the wastelands, including a chilling take on one of the RPG’s most notorious creatures.

When asked about the possibility of intelligent, talking Deathclaws making an appearance in future episodes, Robertson-Dworet stated, “I mean, nothing’s off the table.”

She elaborated, “The intelligent Deathclaws are obviously favorites, and I find, though, all the Deathclaws sympathetic, just because their creation is a human-influenced thing. It wasn’t something they asked for. They’re not just a product of natural evolution. This is the fault of human error and human hubris. So I feel like even if they’re attacking you, it’s kind of your own fault in a way.”

Only the most experienced Vault dwellers might recall the intelligent Deathclaws from the games. Fallout 2 featured several quests involving these talking creatures, with Goris being a notable companion during the 1998 RPG’s storyline.

After a period of absence from Bethesda’s interpretation of the universe, intelligent Deathclaws made a comeback in the free-to-play title Fallout Shelter Online and its TV show tie-in, Viva New Vegas.

In Fallout season 2, Deathclaws have already made their presence felt, first appearing in an Anchorage flashback and later blocking the path into New Vegas for The Ghoul and Lucy. But there’s likely much more to come.

Fallout season 2 is currently available for streaming on Prime Video. For updates on the release of its final episodes, keep an eye on the season 2 release schedule. You can also check out our thoughts on the series in the season 2 review.
