Ubisoft Drops 18 Tracks from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Soundtrack on YouTube Amidst Remake Speculation

The Ubisoft Music YouTube channel has unexpectedly dropped some tracks from an older Assassin’s Creed title, which raises eyebrows, especially with the buzz around a potential Black Flag remake intensifying.

Just hours after I mentioned this, even more peculiar developments regarding Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and its rumored remake have surfaced. For those who haven’t been following closely, Ubisoft has confirmed that remakes of “older Assassin’s Creed games” are in the pipeline. Almost a year’s worth of hints has pointed to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag being the frontrunner for this treatment, including a cryptic comment from actor Matt Ryan, who voiced Edward Kenway, suggesting fans might need to replay the game. Yet, despite various age ratings, Steam updates, leaks, and domain registrations, Ubisoft has remained tight-lipped.

I can’t help but feel that the company is playfully teasing fans. In a recent twist, the Ubisoft Music YouTube channel has uploaded eighteen sea shanties from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag—over 12 years after the game’s original release. This was brought to light by Twitter user TheHiddenOneAC, who remarked, “The breadcrumbs just continue.”

So, what does this all signify? It certainly seems like Ubisoft is gearing up for something related to Black Flag. This could either be the worst-kept secret in gaming history—on par with Leon Kennedy’s return in Resident Evil Requiem—or a rather strange marketing strategy. Perhaps it’s a mix of both, especially after the 15th leak made its way online. Rumors suggest the remake could launch before the end of March 2026, so we might not have to wait long. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if a remake of Assassin’s Creed Unity suddenly appeared as well.

In a related note, Ubisoft has labeled Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Mirage as “AAAA” titles, according to a producer.
