Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Your Guide to Dreaming and Dream Addresses

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ update 1.4.0 introduced some exciting new features, including a significant online addition from Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS—Dream Suite! Now, you can dive into dreams in New Horizons, allowing you to visit replicas of other players’ islands and upload your own for others to explore. This means you can check out different islands for decorating ideas while they’re offline, and showcase your own island without worrying about visitors trampling your flowers or snagging your items. Here’s everything you need to know about dreaming, including the requirements, what you can do in a dream, how to visit a dream island, and how to upload your own.

**How To Dream In Animal Crossing: New Horizons**
**Requires:** internet connection with a Nintendo Online subscription, 1x bed
To start dreaming in New Horizons, you’ll need an internet connection and an active Nintendo Online subscription. You’ll also need any bed in the game; you should have received Luna’s bed in the mail after downloading the update, but any surface you can lie down on will work. Once you settle in, you’ll get a prompt—select “Yeah, I want to sleep” to begin your dreaming adventure. The first time you do this, you’ll meet Luna, a tapir who will guide you through the dreaming process before you can start exploring or uploading your own island.

**How To Visit Dream Islands**
Your first option while dreaming is to visit other players’ islands. To do this, you’ll need the dream address of your destination. These addresses are 12-digit codes that start with “DA,” similar to friend codes or creator codes in New Horizons. You can get a friend’s dream address or find one by browsing community sites. To enter a dream address and visit another player’s island, follow these steps:
1. Lie on any bed and select “Yeah, I want to sleep.”
2. Choose “I want to dream.”
3. Enter the dream address you have.

Once Luna connects you to the internet and downloads the dream island, you’ll wake up in the plaza of that island, ready to explore.

**What Can You Do On A Dream Island?**
While visiting a dream island, you can roam freely, enter villagers’ and players’ homes, visit the museum, and chat with villagers. However, you can’t access Resident Services, Able Sisters, or Nook’s Cranny. You also can’t take any items with you—Luna will hold onto your items until you wake up, and anything you find on the island won’t be kept. You can use the terminal outside Resident Services, which is the same kiosk found in Able Sisters, to download any custom designs from the player.

**How To Leave A Dream Island**
When you’re done exploring, head back to your bed outside Resident Services and lie down again. Follow Luna’s prompts to “wake up” and return to your real island.

**How To Report A Dream Island**
If you come across a dream island with inappropriate content, you can press the minus button to report it while still dreaming. Luna will then wake you up.

**How To Upload Your Island**
In addition to visiting other players’ dream islands, you can upload a dream version of your own island for others to explore. To do this and generate your own dream address:
1. Lie on any bed and select “Yeah, I want to sleep.”
2. Choose “I’d like to share a dream.”

You can then share your dream address with other players.
