Unlocking Resident Services in Animal Crossing: New Horizons: A Guide to Bringing Isabelle to Your Island

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Resident Services tent serves its purpose well during the initial days on your island, but as your charming getaway evolves into a lively coastal community, it quickly becomes clear that it needs an upgrade. To accommodate your growing village, Nook decides to replace the tent with a fully functional building. Here’s a straightforward guide on how to transition from the Resident Services tent to a proper structure.

To unlock the Resident Services building, you’ll need to complete a few prerequisites. First, pay off your initial loan to Tom Nook and upgrade to a real house. Next, you must finish setting up Nook’s Cranny. After that, invite three new residents to your island by following Tom Nook’s guidance. The earliest you can unlock the Resident Services building is on your sixth day of play, but it won’t actually open until the eighth day. Once the construction is complete, the tent will be replaced with a paved town square and a new bulletin board.

Isabelle will join the Resident Services team, allowing you to discuss villager-related matters with her, as well as change the town flag and tune. She’ll also take over the morning announcements, bringing her cheerful presence to your daily routine. While the Nook Stop machine will be unavailable during the building’s construction, your streak for checking it won’t reset. You’ll still earn a bonus of 500 Nook Miles, and your streak will continue, capping at seven or more days with a maximum of 300 Nook Miles per day. Plus, with the new building, there will be even more items available for purchase using Nook Miles, so make sure to grab that inventory upgrade for 8,000 Miles as your first priority.
