PlayStation Plus Kicks Off the New Year with an Exciting Game Catalog Update
Sony has unveiled the latest additions to its PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, and it’s shaping up to be another impressive lineup following December’s strong finish. On January 20, Premium and Extra subscribers can look forward to new titles, including the latest Resident Evil installment and a fan-favorite Yakuza RPG.
Resident Evil Village, released in 2021, introduced players to the towering Lady Dimitrescu, sparking a wave of fan art and discussions. This survival-horror sequel was well-received by both critics and gamers, earning a Game of the Year nomination at the 2021 awards. Our review highlighted its successful blend of action and horror, emphasizing that “Resident Evil Village’s biggest triumph is in not-so-quietly arguing that horror and action aren’t that different after all. They’re both just ways to get your blood pumping.”
Meanwhile, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth takes the Yakuza series to Hawaii, while keeping the signature mix of humor and intense action that fans love. Players will step into the shoes of Ichiban Kasuga and the iconic Kazuma Kiryu as they embark on a quest to find Kasuga’s mother, engaging in quirky escapades like battling a giant shark and snapping photos of beachgoers. It’s been hailed as one of the best games on PS5, with our review noting that “None of the previous Yakuza games are as grand as Infinite Wealth.”
In addition to Resident Evil and Like a Dragon, there are more titles joining the Game Catalog. Here’s the complete list of games arriving on January 20:
The PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for PS4 and PS5 is available to subscribers of the higher tiers, beyond Essentials. This service is Sony’s response to Xbox Game Pass, providing access to hundreds of games for subscribers to download and enjoy.
