Arc Raiders Team Considers Making Speranza a Walkable Hub Similar to Destiny 2 and Monster Hunter

Speranza, the main hub in Arc Raiders, is envisioned as a cozy spot where players can unwind and regroup before heading back into the action. Developer Embark Studios shares this vision and aims to eventually turn it into a vibrant, walkable neighborhood, but for now, they have other pressing matters to tackle.

“We’ve definitely talked about it. I think it was one of the first questions we asked when we began developing the game,” said Virgil Watkins, the design director for Arc Raiders. “‘What would that experience be like?’ Ultimately, it comes down to time and scope for us.”

While having an explorable hub akin to those in Destiny 2 or Monster Hunter would be fantastic, it’s not essential to the core gameplay. Ensuring that the extraction shooter runs smoothly and reliably takes precedence. With the overwhelming response Arc Raiders has received since its launch just a few months ago, Embark’s team is focused on various priorities, leaving little room for leisurely strolls through Speranza.

However, this could change in the future. The timeline is uncertain, but as Embark navigates through more events and solidifies the game’s infrastructure, revisiting this idea could become a reality. For those who prefer a more menu-driven experience, there’s no need to worry.

“I personally love the vibe and aesthetic of a walkable hub,” Watkins mentioned. “But I want to maintain the efficiency of the menus so players can quickly access what they need without having to run around, like going to Celeste and then back to my room, only to realize I forgot something at Shani. There’s also an immersion aspect to consider.”

Timing is key, and when the moment is right, Embark will take a closer look at this concept. “It’s something we’ve discussed and will keep discussing, and I think there’s a strong interest from the team,” Watkins added. “It’s really about finding the right time to explore that possibility.”

In the latest patch, Arc Raiders addresses two duplication exploits and resolves issues where players could “damage others from behind geometry,” along with various out-of-bounds problems.
