Transform Your Gaming Space with the iMP Gaming DLX2 Charging Stand for Nintendo Switch | Review

Console stands have often seemed a bit superfluous, especially with the Nintendo Switch 2, which comes with its own dock that keeps the console charged and provides a storage solution. However, after spending several weeks with the iMP Gaming DLX2 Multi-Function Charger Stand, my perspective has shifted. While I still view these stands as niche accessories that may appeal primarily to parents or collectors, I now see their value in enhancing any Nintendo setup. The £34.99 device has become a staple in my living room, helping me organize my Switch 2 gear, including headsets and spare controllers, and creating a more cohesive gaming space—something I desperately needed in a home filled with Nintendo gadgets.

Unfortunately, the DLX2 is currently only available in the UK. If you’re in the US and looking to tidy up your Switch 2 setup, you might need to explore other options. JSAUX has introduced a similar product, and brands like Fastsnail offer alternatives at US retailers, but I hope the DLX2 eventually makes its way across the ocean.

Aesthetically, the DLX2 Multi-Function Charger Stand isn’t the most eye-catching accessory for the Switch 2, but it has its charm. Without any attachments, it appears as a simple black rectangular base with a prominent plastic arm. However, it does feature some color, with the adapter and game storage tray sporting the classic neon red reminiscent of the Switch family, including the left Joy-Con of the Switch 2.

While it may not be a showstopper, the stand becomes more appealing once you start adding your accessories. Once the dock is in place and you hang a quality headset, like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless, from the arm, it transforms into a sleek command center, replacing the chaotic spread of controllers and cables with a tidy setup.

The LED lighting adds a nice touch, especially in dim environments, but I’ll delve into that later.

When I first unboxed the DLX2, I was pleasantly surprised by its simplicity. I had anticipated a complex assembly process, but it only required putting together three parts: the base, headrest, and adapter. They fit together seamlessly, and once assembled, I simply slid the Switch 2 dock onto the stand and connected the USB ports of the red adapter. This connection powers the stand, including its LED lights and the ability to charge additional Joy-Cons, while also securing the dock in place.

One of the standout features of this adapter is its adjustable height, making it compatible with the original Switch and Switch OLED docks. This is a thoughtful addition for parents who may want to use it with their older consoles before upgrading to the Switch 2. I appreciate accessories that are backward compatible, especially at a reasonable price point of £34.99.

In addition to securing your dock, the DLX2 has four slots for charging two sets of Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers. While I don’t have an extra pair to fully utilize this feature, I did test my original set, and they fit perfectly.

The headset rest, while not charging your headset, provides a convenient place to keep it organized. As someone who frequently reviews headsets, having a designated spot for my current pair was a welcome change.

The stand also includes a game storage tray that slides out from the right side, along with two USB ports on the left and two USB cables on the back for charging additional controllers. Even though connecting the Switch 2 uses up two ports, iMP Gaming smartly included these extra options.

The LED lighting runs along the outer edge and top of the base, with a translucent plastic edge on the headset rest that catches the light, making it easy to locate your headset in low-light conditions. A switch on the stand allows you to turn the lights on or off or cycle through various static colors and effects.

After setting up the DLX2 in my living room unit below the TV, I found it took up a bit more space than the standard Switch 2 dock. My TV is mounted higher than ideal for the HDMI cable, which caused some tension on the stand, but that’s more about my setup than the stand itself. Once everything was connected, I truly appreciated having the DLX2 in my gaming space.

As a gaming tech enthusiast and collector, my home is filled with various Nintendo accessories, making organization a challenge. The DLX2 provided a proper place to store my headset when not in use. While it may not be the sturdiest headset rest I’ve encountered, it held my Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro securely without any issues during the two weeks I used it.

I didn’t find much use for the game storage tray, as I prefer keeping my cartridges in a dedicated case for easy access. However, for someone with limited space, having a hidden tray for games could be quite handy.

The same goes for the two USB-C cables that can be pulled from the back; they were a bit tricky to access, and despite heavy use of my Switch 2 over the holidays, I never felt the need to use them.

As a fan of RGB lighting, I enjoyed the LED features of the stand. While some may find it a bit flashy, I appreciated the glow it provided in my living room, especially since I prefer not to use the main light. For those who prefer a more subdued look, the LEDs can be turned off, but I kept mine on most of the time.

If you’re in the US, unfortunately, the iMP Gaming DLX2 Multi-Function Charger Stand isn’t available yet. While other brands are working on similar designs, I hope this one eventually makes its way to US retailers. If you do come across it or a similar alternative, I recommend picking one up to streamline your setup or help a child keep their Switch 2 accessories organized.

The DLX2 is a niche accessory, not essential for enjoying the latest updates in games like Animal Crossing or Mario Kart. It’s perfectly valid to save that £34.99 for upcoming titles instead. However, if you’re tired of misplacing your headset and like the idea of having everything in one organized spot, the DLX2 is a solid addition to your gaming setup.

I set up the DLX2 Charging Stand just before the holiday break, adding my Switch 2, a gaming headset, and some games to its storage tray. For over two weeks, it served as the hub of my Nintendo gaming experience, whether I was playing in docked or handheld mode.
